Side Effects

GI upset, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, blood dyscrasias, urticaria, exfoliative dermatitis, rash, fever, seizures, interstitial nephritis.
Anaphylactic shock, pseudomembranous colitis, neuromuscular hyersensitivity, electrolyte imbalance.

Indications

Gram positve bacteria, H-influenzae, E-coli, Proteus, Salmonella and Shigella, Strep.
viridans, pneumococci, gonococci and meningococci.
Urinary tract infections.
Respiratory tract infections.
Meningitis.
Gonorrhoea.
Cholecystitis.
Subacute bacterial endocarditis.
Septicaemias and mixed infections.

Contra Indications

Hypersensitivity.
Infectious mononucleosis.

Caution

Renal failure.
Patients with lymphatic leukaemia or HIV infections.
Pregnancy and lactation.
